Drawing with Pen

DP1 Lesson 20:
Pen and Pattern

In this lesson, we continue our exploration of pen and ink as an artistic medium for drawing. We focus specifically on the quality of the pen mark and how it may be used to create pattern in art. Adinkra from the Asante of Ghana informs our understanding of motif, symbol, and pattern in pictorial language. We subsequently apply our understanding to create our own symbolic language expressed through linear and radial patterns with pen and ink.
