Drawing with Pencil

DP1 Lesson 2:
The Pencil Types

In this lesson, we explore how to use different types of pencils to create value. Value is a
fundamental element of drawing with pencil. We practice using pressure and altering the direction of our pencil stroke to create even values. By viewing ancient art, we make connections between our own drawing and art of the distant past to appreciate the length of time on planet Earth that humans have been drawing and artists have been using marks to make meaning.
