Creating Space
DP1 Lesson 11: Distortion and Foreshortening
In this lesson, we learn about distortion and foreshortening, two techniques for manipulating space in naturalistic and imaginative ways. We view and analyze examples of distortion and foreshortening in art history to better understand how to apply these techniques in our own practice. We also practice these techniques in two small-scale drawings, one that applies distortion in an
imaginative way and one that applies foreshortening in a naturalistic way.
